
Free Play workshops for parents and children after school. Our Community Play Development Worker will be running Weston@Play starting Tues 10th February at Weston Children's Centre, Penn Hill Road. Sessions include Healthy Play, Safe Play and risk and will enable people to help organise and plan future play in Weston. Teenage Rampage have been awarded the Silver Children's Charter Award. We have concentrated on ensuring that all the young people in the group are enabled to have input into planning and decision making processes and this has led to us being awarded The Children’s Society Charter Mark at Silver Level.
The Magic Carpet - a B&NES Play Network event on Saturday 4th February at St.Martins Garden Childrens Centre. Highlight of this event is Fraser Brown who is a renowned playwork author, speaker and expert.
Dr Fraser Brown is Professor of the School of Health and Community Studies at Leeds Metropolitan University and leads on all therapeutic aspects of the BA (Hons) Playwork degree. He will be visiting us to discuss his work and how we develop the confidence and skills in the play sector to promote and recognise the significance of our work in supporting children’s emotional development. We will also be looking at the importance of the play environment in supports and encourages children’s free play and imagination.
This is a low cost event with a children’s crèche and play activities we
hope that it will be an inclusive, lively and creative day for all those
committed to children’s play

On 5th October, BAPP were notified that out of 420 applications, they had been shortlisted in the Play Award category of the National Children and Young People Now Awards. The final award ceremony takes place on the 17th November in London and we will wait and see...
Community Play Ranger teams continue to work outside in all weathers throughout the autumn and winter. After consultation with current users, sessions will be finishing earlier at 5pm ish as the dark nights draw in. This will allow the CPRs to work with more children during the daytime at schools across the City. Keep an eye open for their red uniforms and hats!
Community Play Forum work in Weston, Whiteway and Foxhill has begun. We will also be working with the University of Bath who will be supporting our development of the Play Forums in Whiteway and Foxhill. For more information please see the save childrens play page.
