Positive Activities for Young people is a project funded through B&NES Extended Services Team providing young people aged 11 – 16 years with the opportunity to get involved with different projects.
South Bath Urban Mix has DJing, live music, dance, graffiti and digitial music sampling on a Wednesday between 5 and 7pm and Thursday between 6 and 8pm.
Active Odd Down has football and basketball coaching and matches on a Wednesday evening 7 – 9pm with the Youth team Odd Down Wanderers playing in the 5-a-side league at Percy Community Centre on Thursday evenings 7 – 9pm.
These ideas cam from young people from the Odd Down and local area as things that they wanted to do. This consultation was used to put together a funding bid which was successful. So far the project has engaged over 70 young people on a weekly basis with some young people choosing to work towards an Arts Accreditation.
Four young people have developed skills in live music and are regularly practising at the Community Centre – if you live locally you will now be able to recognise the noise as music.
