Our Play Services

Bath Area Play Project provide a range of services directly supporting children’s right to play and enjoy their leisure time or time out of school usually without their parents!

Early Help Offer & our work in schools

We work with staff at Southside to run the Family Support Play service providing targeted support and early help to vulnerable families with children aged 5-19 years.  Led by our Play Service Manager, our playworkers support families with children aged 5 to 19 years, supporting the whole family to make positive changes that will improve confidence & resilience using whole family support and play as a process of engagement and support to develop stronger family bonds.

We also offer: Free Nurture groups in schools, Family Play Hubs and 1-1 support to young people and their families. See our Family Support Play Service page for more details or contact our Play Service Manager.

Specialist provision for children with additional needs:

Short Breaks Holiday Playschemes are specialist services for disabled children and young people and we deliver this contract as Lead Partner with 3 other organisations; KIDS, Bath Opportunity Pre-school and Fosse Way School.

Holiday Playschemes are for disabled children and young people during Easter, Summer and October school holidays; BAPP offer playschemes for children 3 - 5 years old at BOP, 5 – 12 years old at the Hut in Twerton and at 12 - 19 years old at Threeways. The KIDS playscheme, based in Keynsham, are for children aged 5-12 years and 13-19 years old and Fosse Way's playschemes, based in Radstock are offered for children 3 - 19 years old.

SOFA (Summer of Fun Activities) is for young people aged 12+ years and is part of BAPP's youth programme which also includes Teenage Rampage, our Tuesday evening weekly youth club for disabled teenagers aged 13 – 21 years.

All of these services have the child / young person at the centre and are led by qualified and experienced staff and volunteers who build strong and effective relationships with children, supporting them to reach their potential.

BAPP's Open Access Playdays

Our playdays are open for all children and their families in Bath and the surrounding areas and are run during the Easter and Summer Holidays. These are free play sessions, although donations are gratefully recieved, and run for 4 hours with a range of free-play activities supported by play workers. We also run 'Play out Wild' sessions where we focus on more natural play opportunities.

Please look out for our playday leaflets or follow us on facebook for this year's dates and locations. Alternatively email us at enquiries@bathareaplayproject.co.uk for more details.
