Alternative Provision and Individual Play Support

Alternative provision (AP) is defined as:
“Education arranged by local authorities for pupils who, because of exclusion, illness or other reasons, would not otherwise receive suitable education; education arranged by schools for pupils on a fixed period exclusion; and pupils being directed by schools to off-site provision to improve their behaviour” (Alternative Provision Statutory Guidance for Local Authorities. DfE January 2013)

Where you have a child struggling to access school or are looking to put a package of support together for a pupil, Bath Area Play Project have some capacity to support.

This may be a regular session once a week or a day or more per week for a child that needs more specialist support perhaps due to complex needs or anxiety.

We provide person-centred support and teaching using a play based approach which supports children to develop confidence, make progress and thrive, often enabling children to be able to access education after the intervention.

The service is usually based in the Odd Down Community Centre in Bath and we do not provide any transport.

Please complete the Request for Support Form and send together with any EHCPlan via this link giving an indication of the level & frequency of support you are looking for.

We have a range of practitioners including qualified teachers and Early Years Professionals, experienced with supporting children with SEND. This is a paid for service and on receipt of any Request for Support, we will look at capacity and where we can support, provide you with a costed package.
